Plan the day you move your number

A successful transfer needs the right code and the right sequence.

Choose the right request

For the standard UK mobile process, a PAC is used to keep a number when changing provider. Text PAC to 65075 from the existing line, or use the current provider’s official alternative process. A STAC, requested through 75075, is for switching without keeping that number. Multi-line and restricted accounts may need additional handling.

Read the response

Check the code’s expiry and any information about remaining commitments. Give the valid code to the receiving provider using its own procedure. Do not cancel the old line first, and do not share the code with an independent information website.

Prepare for interruption

Choose a suitable date and retain access to both SIMs. Keep the expected completion information. Afterwards, test incoming calls and texts as well as outgoing service. Report a partial transfer with the exact direction of the failure.

Finish the paperwork

Check the final account for credits and balances. A number transfer does not settle unrelated device finance or other products. Keep the official case reference if a transfer is delayed and follow the provider’s complaint route where necessary.
