A new SIM or a new phone?

The first choice is the piece of the arrangement you actually need to replace.

Audit the phone you have

Write down battery condition, available storage, software support and any feature that no longer works. A poor mobile signal can be a network or location issue rather than a reason to replace the handset. Before buying anything, check the phone’s compatibility with the provider you are considering, including voice support and its exact regional variant.

Compare two complete routes

Compare keeping the phone with a new airtime arrangement against obtaining a phone and airtime together. Use the whole commitment, including optional items and any scheduled changes. Keep a separate note of ownership and finance. A longer repayment period changes the payment schedule; it does not make the device free.

A practical decision rule

If the phone remains suitable, prioritise a compatible connection and a manageable service term. If it no longer meets your needs, investigate repair or replacement on its own merits. Do not accept an upgrade simply because an unsolicited caller claims it is required for a network migration.

What to save

Retain the order summary, product description and cancellation information. Write down when each component begins and ends. If the agreement is revised later, keep the newer version with the earlier documents so that a change can be traced.
