Quantity is one measurement
An allowance describes how much usage is included. It does not by itself establish the maximum speed, the reliability of an indoor connection or overseas entitlement. Look for speed descriptions, fair-use terms and roaming conditions separately.
A laptop changes the workload
Hotspots can bring software updates, cloud backups and several streams onto a connection. Review automatic activities before using a phone as the main internet source. The general data balance may be shared across every connected device.
Why a connection slows
Signal quality, radio demand, the handset and the remote website can all affect performance. Try more than one service and repeat at another time before diagnosing the cause. A busy location is not the same thing as an exhausted allowance.
Choose a useful margin
Examine several ordinary months of use, not just a holiday or a house move. Allow room for reasonable variation. If reducing the allowance later matters, check whether the plan permits that during its minimum term.
