Check the exact contract
Find the destination list and travel conditions for your own tariff. A current product with similar branding may have different rules. Record whether a pass is needed, when it starts and which activities remain excluded.
Do not forget the journey
Transit countries, border areas, ships and aircraft can introduce different network categories. A maritime connection is not automatically covered by an allowance for the country near the ship. Decide when you want mobile service enabled.
Calls and data are different
Calling another country from the UK is international calling. Roaming means using the SIM outside its home network area. A benefit can cover one without the other. Receiving calls, checking voicemail and using background data may each need attention under the tariff.
If adding a travel eSIM
Check whether it is data-only and how calls or verification messages will reach your usual number. Select the intended data line and review automatic switching. Save the relevant instructions offline in case the first connection is unreliable.
